The intro sounded slightly influenced by music frm

Shaw-shank Redemption (or one of the other suggested movie soundtracks below)

The orchestral elements of this song are wonderful, the strings sound brilliant, and I was most impressed the the melodic annunciation of the strings between 0:58-1:13 (Really awesome dude). By 1:37-1:57 this song has pretty much unfolded into some seriously epic movie soundtrack material.

I really would have liked to hear you continue on with this song though, Most times when you hear tracks like this...They tend to be pretty long, While this song is less then 2:00 long.

overall though; This is a wonderful piece of work!

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! :)

02:00 was as far as I was allowed to go when writing writing this track, otherwise I might've expanded it.

Actually reminds me more of Ambient-Industrial

or Industrient-Experimentstep (lol)

But really this song has some really great elements to it;
The intro sounds very industrial, and the surrounding ambiance is really different!
The drums sound good, and the lead was actually alright (even though it sounds a bit pulled back)

The break @ 1:13 sounded generally right, but the bass-line here seemed really bland compared to everything else in the song. The Bass samples in this part also sounds really unmixed/ mastered :(

Things I would do differently;
- Add a few more FX to make this ambiance really POP out
- Bring that leasd into dominance a bit more
- Remaster the drop
- this could use some stereo separating/ eq

Overall; good effort, keep at it!

Thank you for the review! I like your suggestions; very constructive and helpful, which seems rare to me for some reason :) Im really glad you think it has some potential, and I'll take to heart what you've told me. Thanks again :D

Interesting House jam :p

The drums all sound pretty nice here, and you did an interesting job of building your intro/ buildup here :D. Your instruments all sound generally nice, but nothing really rocked my world about this melody though. I enjoyed where you were going with the vocal chops and everything, but after 3 minutes I pretty much realized that you weren't going to bring in a full vocal part for the chorus. :{

I really enjoyed certain elements of this song, but at the same time others could have used some work.

Things I would take a second look at:
- That bass-line could use something more
- The leads were a tad bit plain, and I felt they could have used some layering.
- The drum dynamics were a bit confusing
- Chorus build-up; but no chorus :[

Overall good effort, but needs a little work

I know what your saying.
This track was different then most in that the structure was less intended.
---there isn't a full vocal chorus, this is just a sample---

There are many things i hear i could have done to bring complexity while clearing things up, but i wasn't sure on how to implement them into the track without restarting.

This definitely not something i usually do, I don't know, I was just exploring with the glitching and beat patterns.

Thanks for the great review =]

Relaxing and beautiful

This is really beautiful, and totally reminded me of epic RPG music. :D
The orchestral elements of this song were great, and really sounded incredible.
The soft bell samples and other pluck leads we're very nicely blended during the intro, and I really loved the dynamic build and fall of this song as well.

The overall feel of this song was truly enchanting, and instantly transported me to a field of green under a setting sun. A giant castle stands in the distance, and a hero begins his journey through the mountain pass to get to town; Its getting dark, and creatures are starting to roam the plains. Tensions rise, and as the sun falls over the pass our hero begins to battle for his life...

The creatures fall silent, and the hero continues on towards his goal.

Overall; there's not to much I would change about this
Really great work!

Thanks! I love the little concept you put into your review. I can really see it happening that way.

Much appreciated :)

Interesting forsure

This song was different compared to most forsure, and I could see why you would have trouble giving it a proper genre.

The lyrics are really good, and I really enjoyed your sense of poetry. The song was named well, as most of the samples/ instruments in this song sounded pretty broken and distorted. Overall this was seriously an interesting submission; very experimental.

Things to take a second look at:
- Although the lyrics are good, the vocal elements of this song weren't so great.
- The lead instruments really clashed with that bass sample that you used; made things sound slightly grimy

Overall not bad work. but could use some polishing up

SoulSecure responds:

Grimey=a good thing in my book.

The vocals clash with the song because my mic sucks balls.

sick drop :]

I really enjoyed the dub-bass work in this song bro, very nicely done. The drums are simple, but still clean; I really liked how they have that almost hip-hop sound to them. The lead melody sounds alright, but the piano seemed to sound a bit dry imo. The drop in this song really made up for my major dislikes though :p

Things to take a second look at:
- The lead melody seemed a bit repetitive, and I really did NOT like the lead @ 0:27-0:40
- The piano sample in this really seemed to be a bit much. maybe it could use some reverb/ eq work?

Overall not a bad piece, but I definitely would have done a couple things differently x.x
Great work though :D

Thanks for the review XsakuX. I'll add a bit more character to my sounds and maybe scramble up my composition to make it feel a bit more alive.

Interesting submission!

The beats, drum kits, and melodies are generally spot-on, but the loudness of those leads is also killing your mix! This song is also really loud.

Sorry for having so little good to say, but there is a lot that needs fixing here.

Things I would have done differently:
- These leads/ bass samples are out of control (the superhigh mix volumes destroys your appeal right off the bat. (Try something a little softer on the ears
- Everything about this song sounds rushed (Take more time for the individual things
- Mixing, Mastering, Mixing, MASTERING! Always watch those volume levels man

Overall this piece has potential, but needs work
Good work in progress anyway

Knoxius responds:

I guess nobody likes how loud the bass is :P Personally, I love it and have no intention of changing it, but I'll remember that people don't like being blasted by that sort of thing from now on.

Thank you for the review!

Left4Dead Hardcore!

Not bad at all my friend; this submission really reminds me of something that you would hear from Scott Brown. The driving beats/ drum and bass break in this song are wonderfully done, and the L4D sampling was extremely entertaining :).

The leads, drums, bass, and effects in this song all sound pretty appropriate. I also love how well you managed to generate the sinister hardcore groove (very impressive)

Things I would have done differently:
- The mixing sounds a bit cloudy
- The mastering sounds like it could be slightly better (lets here some clarity out of those instruments!)
- Be careful when working with so many distorted samples; It gets really easy to let things get out of hand.

Overall, really sweet submission!

Dj-GST responds:

Awesome man, thanks!

Thanks, I was playing and thought that the witch would make some good Hardcore vocals.

For the lead I basically copied the first 3 notes of the L4D theme, and trance gated it.

I agree man, I gotta work on that. I'm gonna be going to school for music production pretty soon, I'll learn all that stuff there :D

Thanks for the awesome review bro!

3S

Pretty cool!

This song definitely reminds me of a video game! Particularly an older game though like Contra/ Metal Slug.

Everything sounds pretty solid, I love the drums, and I love the drum patterns.
The melodies are very nice, and have that videogame-ish feel!
I could easily see this going into a neo-retro video game/ flash animation! :D

Things I would have done differently:
- Your drums drown everything out in this song (pay a little more attention to mixing/ mastering)
- The leads are feint (can't tell if this is because of the drums or mixing)
- This song is a bit repetitive
- Sample clarity is everything

Overall not a bad submission, but could use some things.

SuperBastard responds:

Thanks again for a good review, I'll see what I can do about the issues you mentioned.

Rather nice actually :)

I really enjoyed the drum work/ piano melodies right from the beginning, and everything seems to blend very well too. The guitar melodies were also very nice, and the nylon string guitar stuff really brightened this piece up!

Things to take a second look at:
- Some of your drums sound really generic, particularly the crashes/ symbols
- That Fruity Slayer KILLED my ears @ 55 seconds in, The backround melodies also started to seem a bit repetitive here
- 1:30 - 2:30 things seem to get pretty empty, and it doesn't seem like much is going on.

Overall this submission is nice, but could use some polishing up.
