Really Nice!

I love all of the melodies, smooth percussion, and breaks in this song :D
The vocal work was really good, and I really liked the overall tone of the vocals as well. The mixing and mastering sounds pretty crisp, and I really enjoyed the different instruments you used :)

Things I would take a second look at:
- The bass-line in this track is great, but that bass could be layered a bit more to sound "fatter" imo
- As good as the vox were, I would have liked to hear more creativity with the vocals. Vocal ambiance, reversed whispers/ voices, and fx with delay or echo could make that break really magical :)
- I also would have enjoyed more vocal mixing throughout the song; rather than just dropping the vox in one spot.

overall; This has a f&^k ton of potential :)
Great work bro!

Interesting submission!

The beats, drum kits, and melodies are generally spot-on, but the loudness of those leads is also killing your mix! This song is also really loud.

Sorry for having so little good to say, but there is a lot that needs fixing here.

Things I would have done differently:
- These leads/ bass samples are out of control (the superhigh mix volumes destroys your appeal right off the bat. (Try something a little softer on the ears
- Everything about this song sounds rushed (Take more time for the individual things
- Mixing, Mastering, Mixing, MASTERING! Always watch those volume levels man

Overall this piece has potential, but needs work
Good work in progress anyway

I guess nobody likes how loud the bass is :P Personally, I love it and have no intention of changing it, but I'll remember that people don't like being blasted by that sort of thing from now on.

Thank you for the review!

Left4Dead Hardcore!

Not bad at all my friend; this submission really reminds me of something that you would hear from Scott Brown. The driving beats/ drum and bass break in this song are wonderfully done, and the L4D sampling was extremely entertaining :).

The leads, drums, bass, and effects in this song all sound pretty appropriate. I also love how well you managed to generate the sinister hardcore groove (very impressive)

Things I would have done differently:
- The mixing sounds a bit cloudy
- The mastering sounds like it could be slightly better (lets here some clarity out of those instruments!)
- Be careful when working with so many distorted samples; It gets really easy to let things get out of hand.

Overall, really sweet submission!

Dj-GST responds:

Awesome man, thanks!

Thanks, I was playing and thought that the witch would make some good Hardcore vocals.

For the lead I basically copied the first 3 notes of the L4D theme, and trance gated it.

I agree man, I gotta work on that. I'm gonna be going to school for music production pretty soon, I'll learn all that stuff there :D

Thanks for the awesome review bro!

Pretty cool!

This song definitely reminds me of a video game! Particularly an older game though like Contra/ Metal Slug.

Everything sounds pretty solid, I love the drums, and I love the drum patterns.
The melodies are very nice, and have that videogame-ish feel!
I could easily see this going into a neo-retro video game/ flash animation! :D

Things I would have done differently:
- Your drums drown everything out in this song (pay a little more attention to mixing/ mastering)
- The leads are feint (can't tell if this is because of the drums or mixing)
- This song is a bit repetitive
- Sample clarity is everything

Overall not a bad submission, but could use some things.

Thanks again for a good review, I'll see what I can do about the issues you mentioned.

interesting piece.

But to be completely honest, I'm not really in love with it.

The plucks sound good, the piano samples sound alright, and most of the orchestral stuff you used sounds pretty clean.

I feel that a lot of these patterns sound slightly random though, and the horn section parts were a tad to loud.

If I could change some things:
- With this song I hated some of the melodies, and loved some as well; Honestly things just seemed a bit too busy
- The drum samples used here were plain, and poorly eq'd (work on that mixing/ mastering)
- I really don't like using horn samples, but that's me (If you really want horns, I really suggest recording one in rl... It sounds worlds better)

Overall this piece is good, but could use some work

Sorry to be so anal, but I'm sure you can do a bit better than this buddy! :D

Very nice!

This is a really different piece, but in a totally good way; I totally dig the Chicane-style Ambient vibe dude, super chill.

The instruments all sound very nice, clear, and wonderfully mixed. I loved the way that your leads dynamically rose and fell particularly. The drums were perfectly ambient, and the feint reverb/ echos were wonderfully done.

Things I would have done differently:
- Some of your piano samples are a bit clippy/ pitchy
- The piano/ string melodies got a bit out of hand in a couple spots

Overall though, this submission is very chill.

Rather nice actually :)

I really enjoyed the drum work/ piano melodies right from the beginning, and everything seems to blend very well too. The guitar melodies were also very nice, and the nylon string guitar stuff really brightened this piece up!

Things to take a second look at:
- Some of your drums sound really generic, particularly the crashes/ symbols
- That Fruity Slayer KILLED my ears @ 55 seconds in, The backround melodies also started to seem a bit repetitive here
- 1:30 - 2:30 things seem to get pretty empty, and it doesn't seem like much is going on.

Overall this submission is nice, but could use some polishing up.

Simple and shweet

This song like many of your others, is done pretty nicely!
I really enjoyed the drum work, and most of your house builds we're really nicely put together. The break 2:05 reminded me of older Wolfgang Gartner stuff!
Everything seems to be decently mixed, nothing sounds too bogged down, and everything sounds pretty clear. Nice job!

Things I would have done differently;
- Your patterns are pretty spot on, but I wasn't too in love with every instrument you chose (definitely try layering your lead/ bass samples a bit more for fullness)
- Some instruments seemed to sound really well Eq'd while others didn't (your clap at the intro for example)
- The build at 1:30-2:00 was slightly confusing, and a bit repetitive (Try working with this a bit, you're really close)

Overall, very solid submission!
Nice work Dela; This is the type of sht I like to hear man

DJDela responds:

Yeah, I know the build up sucks, it's just lack of ideas.
There is much work to be done here, actually the funny part is that I didn't spend more than two hours on this.

What's wrong with the clap?
Too loud? Needs reverb? Or maybe I should use a different clap?

The bass lead didn't quite turn out as expected, I am having a few issues with NI Massive, but never mind that.

Thank you for reviewing, and I'm glad you liked it.

Very nice. :D

This tune really reminds me of something that you would hear in a kingdom hearts level! The instruments in this are very well blended, and all sound very clear!
The melodies are cheerful, and very carefree feeling; this tune seems like a perfect loop, and flows smoothly from beginning to end.

Things I would do differently:
- It's always nice to hear something done in Edirol, but I would definitely have liked to hear contributions from other plugins as well. (If you did something this good with edirol I'm sure your capable of much more!)

Overall, nice little loop; I dig it

Decent cover!

The guitar work is very nice, and really relaxing; I enjoyed most everything I heard here instrumental wise :)
Your guitar has a pretty good tone to it in this recording as well (good work)

The vocals could have used a bit more work imo, It sounds like you did most parts in long 1-shot takes. (vocal work is frustrating, but if you put the time in it's almost always worth it)

You sound like your pushing your voice a lottt in this cover; relax dude, Axel Rose doesn't even sound like Axel Rose anymore...
Your best bet with singing, is to stay where you are comfortable

Things I would have taken a second look at:
- Your vocal recording sounds pretty cloudy, and your vocal melodies were a bit off in spots.
- Your voice IS flat/ sharp in a few spots (worth it to fix it)

Overall this isn't a bad effort at all, but it could use some work. :)
