Same Review; Alternate Ending

I loved the orchestral opening accompanied with the piano; makes you feel as if something huge is starting. A master-plan taking effect, and spreading across the globe; or even as if the whole world is joining together to defeat a great evil.
The guitar work in this was also great! Loved the note harmonization, and not-too-harsh tones as well.
The mastering on this must have been some pretty beastly work, but it sounds like you blended all of your samples real and artificial, very nicely :)

There's not much about this track that I would change.
This is pretty incredible, and definitely close movie soundtrack material!

I noticed this version was shorter than the original as well; personally, I like the longer one.
It seems much more professional sounding, and dynamic.

Great Work!

Thanks for taking the time to review both! I just put this one up, in case people wanted a different ending, my favourite is the other version too.

Interesting

This track was pretty different, but I still liked the groove you've made up here.
Makes me think of some bad-ass strutting down the street in the middle of the night in the city. Suddenly mr.badass is confronted by some thugs on the avenue, he charges his power and destroys the opposing foes one by one in hand to hand combat!.

The instruments chosen for this song were pretty cool, and i liked the unique drum beat you came up with here as well :)

I didn't like the intro too much though :(
The drum samples sounded really dead and choppy.
Maybe layer another drum phrase there?
Just an idea :)

Great effort!

Yeah, i was trying to go for a more compressed drum sound at the beginning but I guess I got a little sidetracked. But anyway glad you liked it!

Wow!!

This song is great!
I haven't heard new dance music this good in the portal for a long time!
I really liked the heavy driving Bass and Drums in this. LOVED THE DRUMS OMG.
The leads were kind of out-there, but generally speaking everything worked together pretty well. The lead at the very beginning of the song with the echo effect on it is pretty dope, and the break at 41 seconds almost reminded me of Infected Mushroom before the lead synth came in!

suggestions:
Change up some of your lead choices before 2:45.
Master down the highs on the leads you choose a tad more.

Great Effort!

Good Ideas, I was thinking the same thing. Right now mixing it better than it is might be beyond my capacity to gauge with my ears but it's something I'll look into now that you've pointed it out. It's hard to get them to stand out without having them hog the soundspace!

THX 4 review.

Smooth and atmospheric!

The sounds in this song were very chill and relaxing :) almost reminded me of an Adult Swim Bump artist named Tycho for a second :) (That's a huge complement, take my word for it.) :D
The bass tones in this track were also very chill and relaxing.
Definitely didn't see the drum break coming at 3:45, but the transition was pretty cool. The clav sample you used here reminded me of hazy maze cave from Super Mario 64 :)

Only thing i would change; maybe add a little more to your first drum break, and bring out your bass kick a little more.

All in all
Great track.
Super chill!

Thanks for the compliment! It does sound like an AS bump, now that you brought it up. I'll continue tweaking this one, for sure. Thanks for taking time out to write a thoughtful review, I appreciate it!

Thanks for the review! This is the only song where I'm actually comfortable with the guitar combined with the strings. I've never been able to do it well before this.

Okay! Could use some improvment though :p

The general melodies behind this track are pretty cool, and pretty much right.
There's a good driving bass-line behind this track which is necessary for a good dance song!
You're on the right track, but some things here most definitely need work...

The mastering behind your track is a huge thing, but even more important than that is your drums.
The drum beats in this track seemed pretty lazy, and the intro sounded like a preset sample from some random fl generator.

I suggest trying to stay away from presets... far away...
and maybe look into some mastering/ drum tutorials on youtube!
Tutorials always help, and there's always room for improvement right?

Maybe you can also look into some new drum kits; Take the time to work on your drum beats... people will notice the difference.

Good effort bro!
Keep working at it!

WizMystery responds:

The drums were pretty much... Oh how do you say... Shit compared to what I write acoustically. I'll add toms and cymbals in sparingly to liven it up I guess.

I'm surprised the intro sounds like a preset. I actually used dub siren with a love philter gate - for which no presets were used.

Thanks for the review!

Chill :)

Loved the subtle piano tones and background ambiance during the build-up, very cool :P The drum kits you chose here also complemented the build very well.
To top it all off, the mastering on this track is pretty clean as well!

Some things here however, I would most definitely change...
The bass samples used here sound a little muddy (or flattened out)
Try layering a few bass samples together and see what you get?
Also!
When mastering your Dubstep tracks; watch your low frequencies you want lots of bass which is good, but you need that bass to be crisp as well!

Great Work!

Thank you, Yeah i know this song could use a boost in those low freqs

Chill, but has a couple issues x.x

I liked the intro a lot! The chime-like instruments really reminded me of chilling on a porch in summer, and listening to a windchime in the breeze. so for a moment a really enjoyed the picture of Summer that this song generated in my mind. Summer sun, Squirt guns, Swimming, and all that good stuff. Really awesome stuff :)

The build that follows after, and the instruments that all mesh together at once seem a bit busy though. I definitely would have changed a few things about the mastering as well; this song has many good melodies throughout, but I feel that you maybe meshed to many together at once in some places.
Don't worry though!
It's a very common mistake that I've made myself many times :)
Just keep at it!

Great Effort!

lxNikMxl responds:

Yeahh, I felt that the instruments seemed to mix together too much after I listened to the track a few times. It didn't hit me while I was creating it though, so thank you for bringing that up! I should definitely get to fixing that! Thank you for the compliment about the intro too, that took a lot of sampling and tweaking to get what I needed/wanted. I'm still a little confused as to which instrument I should make more prominent and which should create the melody. I'll figure it out soon, but thank you for the review!

This is great!

The instruments you chose here sound great, and really kept that old-school Mariokart feeling fresh!
You did a pretty great job on the mastering as well! The Bassline and Drums sounded pretty friggin awesome!
I loved the nostalgia this song brought back for me as well :)
Blast from the past.

On the negative side though, the LFO Speed (Wobble effect) on that higher end organ is pretty out of control; maybe consider adjusting that.
Also the plucks that start from the beginning of the song and end @ about 12 seconds see slightly out of place.

Besides that though
This track is actually great!
Keep up the awesome work!

Birdinator99 responds:

I'm really glad you like the mastering -- that was definitely my main focus here.

The organ wobble I understand. I use that instrument a lot when I'm just messing around, so I probably just got used to it.

Those plucks probably could've been brought down a notch at the least, but maybe a lead synth wasn't the best choice, haha.

I appreciate your thoughts; thanks very much!

Beautiful, Underrated, Fck Zero-Bombers...

Zero-Bombers simply fear genius.

This composition is simply incredible; Seriously sounds like its straight out of a movie soundtrack.
It's pretty rare that you actually get to hear a Classical composition that sounds this incredible and professional on Newgrounds.
I loved every sample, I mean EVERY sample in this piece; The dynamics all sound beautiful and naturally flow. Nothing sounds bad, Nothing sounds forced, and Nothing stands up to this composition.

Orchestra is a dieing art; Don't stop making music sir.
You are an incredible composer, and you don't need noobs on newgrounds to tell you that.

Incredibly Inspiring

Thank you very much for the somewhat smoldering review!

I'm on my second month of studying composition now so hopefully I won't stop making music any time soon. ;)
