Pretty nice for a newbie

My biggest issue with this song is the quality, Those angelic choir samples sound really fake without any reverb or effects over them. The string/ flute samples also sound pretty plain in this, but I do like the piano that you used here.

The composition itself is brilliant, and if you plugged in some real quality instruments to this; I'm sure the finished product would be amazing.

Overall, not bad at all for a new composer at all

Thank you for reviewing =)! Always appreciated.

The vocal slicing was pretty well done :p

But the rest of this song was really basic x.x

The instruments/ drums that you used for this song... sound realllly generic, and the melodies are really repetitive. This song seems to completely lack any sort of mixing/ mastering that could have been done.

I was also really disappointed by the lack of Automation Clip use, the transitions in this just move from one to another very abruptly.

Things to do to fix it:
- Mix this thing for godsake
- Watch your volume levels
- Be more creative with the organization of your vocal slices; this shit is way overdone and way too crowded

Overall good idea, but could have been executed a bit better

Everything is taken into consideration for my next tracks.
Thank you for your review! :-D

ER... Here's why...

I Think that Mao's flows are pretty smart, but the execution could really use work; ER only seemed to do better rhythmically, but Rhythm always triumphs over words in competitions like this... or at least it would seem...

Things to take a second look at:
- I think you've both got some real talent, but both y'all need some REAL microphones n' shit lol
- The beat could have been a bit more loud; your vocals are wayy to loud over the rest of the beat.

Overall, okay... but not exactly the type of hip-hop I would drop at a party. x_x

This is totally party music though.

Pretty shweet :p

I really like the blend of instruments that you've brought together here; really refreshing. The 8bit elements, and heavy drum & bass touches really made for a nice track I think :].

The Melodies seemed very well thought out, and I was really impressed by your gradual instrument fade ins; overall the choice of instruments was really good :]

Things to take a second look at:
- This track is really chill, and has a really cool video game feel to it; I WOULD have liked to hear a bit more umph behind this track though :[
just sayin...

Overall; Incredible work, could just use a bit more on the low mastering end

Thanks man!! Really glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Getting there! needs mastering though

I really like what you've done here composition-wise, but these unmixed sounds are blowing out my eardrums Dx.

I like the choice of instruments here, and the drum pattern isn't too bad at all. I also really like the Dark Gauntlet/ Mischief Makers influence.

Things to take a second look at:
- The BIGGEST thing bugging me here is that crash symbol; that thing is too present in this song.
- mixing and mastering need work hardcore (try individually EQing your channels, THEN EQing the master channel on your mixer as a whole)
- Watch your volume meter bro; try playing music from your media player before writing your song, and THEN write at the same velocity & volume as the professionally mastered song

Overall cool song, but needs some serious work in the area of mastering

Horsenwelles responds:

wow! thanks for the kind words and i'll remaster it then get your guy's opinions ;D

Very Nice :]

I really like what you did with your string instruments here, and although I wasn't completely in love with the initial drum drop; the follow up was really nice. I really like how you broke into the ambiance at 1:37; this really reminded me of music that you would hear in like HALO or something like that.

Things to take a second look at:
- I think you could have eq'd your string samples a bit better for a more Full and Warm sound; they are almost there!
- Your drums could use some work from 0:52-1:37 (these samples sound a bit "generic" as-is"

Overall this song is really nice, and your really getting there :]

ChineseCommando responds:

Thanks! And yeah, I wasn't a great EQ master during the time I made this, but thanks for the advice!

Smooth :]

You've got quite the composition here my friend, I really like this :]

Everything sounds pretty well balanced, I really like your drums/ patterns, and your bassline is great (although it is kinda simple). I liked your choice in leads in this song, but I did feel that they sounded a bit too dry/ quiet.

Things to take a second look at:
- Although everything sounds well pieced together; this song could use a lot more attention as far as quality goes. (I felt that as a whole, this song could have been more "In-your-face"
- I also would have liked to hear more variation in your bass patterns

Overall not bad, but could have been more Unique

I'm glad you liked this! I will definitly work on better basslines for future songs. Thanks for the review!

Chill and mysterious :o

This song is really nice dude! :D

The piano tone that you've chosen for this song, has a very nice "Crystal" vibe to it; I really love how you captured that cavern atmosphere within this song as well. Your mixing sounds superb, and I could really imagine this playing in a level within a video game (this really has a nice professional sound to it)

I honestly can't say that I would change much, if anything; It would be nice to hear a longer version.

Brilliant work! :D

BenTibbetts responds:

Thanks Sonik!

Does have an interesting oriental feel to it...

I do however think that the drums may be a bit too IN YOUR FACE in this song though :[. I loved all of the background melodies (bass/leads), but your white noise stuff was crazy overbearing.

Things to take a second look at:
- I don't think your "wubs" sound exactly right; you're killing it with that noise wave :[
- The snare is too much here
- your build is a bit confusing

Overall nice effort, but I think this could use a bit more work :[

SuperBastard responds:

Thanks for the review! I completely agree with all of your criticism, and I fully intend on putting all of that to advice to good use as soon as I get the chance. Once again, thanks for the honest review, you guys are doing me a lot of good!

Interesting :p

You're intro really had me convinced that a big trance break was coming, but what dropped instead seems to be some sort of combo between Arabic scales/ Video game patterns... Which is not bad, but not really what I think you would classify as trance.

Things to take a second look at:
- I really like what you have done with the arpeggiated instruments in the beginning of the song, but they seem oddly mixed as some of your samples sound lower quality than others.
- Your drums are practically non-existent in this track; A good trance song should have a LOT more backbone in the way of percussion

Overall, not bad... but could use some more work :p

Thanks for the review! I'm not good at categorizing things. My apologies if you were mislead!
