Really sick!

I love the tribal sounds from the very beginning, and the strings complement everything very nicely! The slow string progression sounds really brilliant here, and I love how dynamic this piece is; This song would make a sick trance/ progressive house song :]

You really did a phenomenal job in writing this out, and although I'm not familiar with the original... this probably sounds just as good if not better. :]

I honestly don't hear very much that I would change bro!
Can't wait to hear your next one! :D

Woot! Thank you very much :D
I still haven't explored any trance styles, but I think I'll do that in a near future.
Thank you for your nice review!

Jazzy/ Mysterious :p

I really like this piece man; seriously reminds me of music for a Sonic The Hedgehog/ Sly Cooper game! I love the overall feel, and mysterious tones/ melodies.

The bass-line is really fat, and I love how well the guitar samples blended in; although I'm not a huge fan of fl slayer you really pulled it off! :] The drum beats were fresh, and progressive as fck :] I can tell you put a lot into this song!

Things to take a second look at:
- I think that the composition, and musical organization is perfect here; The sample quality on the other hand is a big issue (Find some fresher samples for this song, and I'm pretty sure it would be PERFECT for a plat-former video game)

Overall; REALLY sick :]

SkyeWint responds:

Thanks for the review, man!

Also, guess what? The samples aren't from Slayer. They're actually mixed samples from Kontakt. I could upload a version that actually uses FL Slayer so you could hear the difference.

Overall though, thanks for the words of confidence, I'll be sure to finish this at some point (though I'm a bit busy with something else at the moment. Got invited to a composition competition, and I'm going to put in something much deeper and pour everything good that I've got into it).

Shweet!

The intro was great in this song for starters; I loved how nicely you gradually brought the instruments into dominance, and the ambiance surrounding sounds really nice as well! The leads you chose for this song seemed to fit very nicely, well done! :D

I liked the driving beats, and the dance feel that you generated here :)

Things I would take a seconds look at:
- Your transitions were a bit confusing, and I had trouble telling what was coming next
- This song got a bit repetitive after the first 2 minutes, and I was pretty disappointed that you didn't really change it up much.
- Mixing sounds good, but a bit distant? Bring it forward a bit more maybe?

Overall not bad but could use some things

DavidRx responds:

ive always liked calm intros with a bit more atmo as piano and strings and such :P

i tried 2 make the transitions a bit guessing because i find it a bit plain putting it as and expected whats going 2 come next but i have done it in some other pieces just tryed something new from my line of music

the repetition is because of the standard dance track of kuduro that my friend wanted in the track for her dance, BUT if i decide 2 work a bit more on this track takeing away the limitations i shall do that :P

xP altho the distant sounds i wanted 2 give it more atmo all the time like a magic atmo but keeping the root :3

thx for the review :D

Where is my cake?

Really though this is a pretty sweet sounding Dance/ Techno tune!
I really like your choice in leads, bass, and drums here; you really managed to generate a very old school techno sound with this mix!

This song totally reminds me of the days when the hardest techno around was Darude's EPIC "Sandstorm"!

This track really took me back, and I think it has some real potential!
I also think it could use a couple things though...

My ideas:
- Maybe turn the BPM up a bit, and layer the leads/ drums for a REAL hardcore mix :]
- Add a nice hardcore bassline; or keep it simple w/e
- Blend those break fx in a bit better; they stand out of the mix a bit too much with the mixing the way it is.

Overall not bad work :] Keep at it!

Assios responds:

Thanks for a good review, and thanks for your ideas! I'll probably raise the BPM, and I'll make the lead sound more powerful.

Also, the cake is a lie :(

Nice blend of electronic instruments!

I really like that this piece is composed of all sorts of different elements, but at the same time I did find the variety of sounds to be a bit confusing; maybe you should try to pick an overall feel for your song next time, and then try to build around that theme.

Writing a song is much like writing an essay in the sense that your (Concrete Details/ sounds) should all be organized, and stay within the same topic without venturing to far out. In this case I would say that you might have ventured a bit far considering that you mixed Organs/ Oscillators/ Flutes/ Techno Beats.

Protips:
- Avoid getting too crazy with sample verity
- Make sure your drums are just as powerful and unique as the rest of your instruments
- try to avoid being so repetitive

Overall though, not bad at all!

Marifax responds:

Thanks alot for the review, realy constructive :)
This song was kinda "avant garde" i guess, mainly playing around.
I'll work on the repetitive stuff and the drums aswell.
Thanks for listening :)

Beautiful

This tune is really great! I really loved the subtle dynamics, and the melodies were really moving. the chord progressions here were really unique; Melancholy at points, and more upbeat during others.

I could seriously imagine hearing this being played during a really sad scene in a blockbuster movie; Maybe a song to be played in a hospital scene after a main character loses a family member/ friend... This song really grabbed a hold of me my friend, and I think it's honestly a piece to be majorly proud of!

I'm very pleased to hear that you enjoyed it so much, XsakuX.

I'm also very grateful for the review, so thank you for that. Thanks, RRC.

Very nice :D

This piece has a very nice, clean, and clear sound to it! I really love the driving March-style percussion; the bells sound really great :]

The melodies are superb in this piece, and I was actually reminded of the music from Fable. The flutes you used sound great, and complement everything else in the song very well! You obviously put a fair amount of work into this composition.

I honestly hear very few flaw in this, and me only major suggestion would be to make it a bit longer!

Great work dude!

Believe it or not, this is actually the longest piece I have written in several months... I generally write short pieces now it seems.

Thanks for the review. :)

Not bad but this sounds more like house music :p

I really like what you did with the fade ins, and soft leads. The drums sound good, but have a really house-like pace. I like the melodies here and things don't sound bad, but the structure is a bit off.

- My first suggestion would be to speed things up a bit; work at around 132-136 BPM.

- Second would be to plan your build ups, and break downs before hand; try to make your builds very dynamic yet gradual.

- Thirdly; That bass line is very house sounding as well... I suggest that you shoot for a more driving bassline (Check out my original song "Fail", and you'll hear what I mean)

- Finally; trance leads and fx are usually very soft, clear, and airy sounding. Focus more on mix clarity (Clarity is everything with trance imo)

I Hope these suggestions help bro; I really like this song as a house submission, but I don't quite hear as much trance influence as I would have liked to.
Keep at it, I'm sure you'll get it :]

Cheers!

Thanks so much man! Very helpful points mentioned. I really had no idea what to do. So I'm sure I can incorporate those into the finished version.

Once again, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Greatly appreciate your time. Most helpful review evar! :D

Can't believe I still haven't reviewed this

The best October 2011 NAC submission by far IMO -.-;

Love the driving grooves, Awesome leads, FX, and SICK vocal sampling/ vocals!
The evil laughter that you used during your breaks was also really professional sounding! I honestly had this song stuck in my head for the whole 2 weeks that I worked on my submission man; I was pretty sure that I couldn't even come close to this. x.x
You've got some serious skills bro! (I totally disagree with the NAC judges this time around >.<, and I really hope you take 1st for halloween 2011)

I can't wait to hear your next one bro, and good luck! :D
