Pretty sick little groove :]

I actually really dug the overall feel of this right off the get-go; The heavy echo/ambient feeling that this has really hit a sweet spot with me, and the percussion actually seemed to suit the mix well... despite its power in comparison to your softer instruments. I also really like what you did with your heavy delay effects as well; really quite brilliant :]

If I could change anything here:
- I would probably add more percussion instruments in between the Hat/ Snare/ Kick mixture here, and I would pull that snare back a bit (it does sound great but it's just a bit too overpowering here)

Overall Really chilled, I enjoyed this piece a lot.

BuggMusic responds:

OK, keep the levels of the drums down and add some more interesting percussion. Thanks for the review! :)

Really diggin the Deep-House feel!

I really like the groove that you've created here dude, and that break into piano/ ambiance... forget about it; This is some quality shit.

The drums sound great, I love the deep kicks and deadmau5y percs. The Steinway soundfont used sounds beautiful and pure; only to be completely complemented by a wonderful saw melody that really seems to seek up from behind everything very well.

Amazing work as always Matt; I'm sure the finished product will be completely stunning.

Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it! I indeed was going for a more deep house feel with this idea. I hope to get this done sooooon :P

a little too simple

This song is not unpleasant on the ears, and has an okay feel to it...
BUT THERE ARE NO DYNAMICS

All of these instruments are really simplistic, and unmastered.
There is no build up, there is no break; this is just a sample pattern after pattern composition, like a slide show of sound...

My biggest advice, try to think about your song as a whole before you produce it; surprise people, and add a bit of uniqueness to your compositions.

overall okay, but you can do better

Morph94 responds:

It's not meant to be 'dynamic'. The title says it all- it's Simple, and it's Clean.

Pretty awesome :p

Although this IS Chiptune, and I'm not a huge fan of stuff like this unless it is REALLY good; Anamanaguchi, Electric Children, Trash84... the good stuff...

This is not bad :p
I like how you incorporated the different effects with the chiptune, as that seemed pretty unique. I also really enjoyed the breaks, and build-ups a lot.
The string break towards the end was really awesome

Things to take a second look at;
- The Mixing could really use a lot of adjusting
- The overall mastering seemed kinda crumby (the strings really help you hear the contrast in goodness between Stings/ Drop parts)

Overall not bad, but could use a second look over

Really interesting intro.

I knew I was in for a treat right from the get-go, as this song is super unique!
I really liked the way you had your lead dynamically sweep, and then leave that little bet of resonance to ring out; really creative.

Then comes the drums & bass;
I really like how full your bass samples sound here, and I really think they complement the rest of the mixed instruments well.

Things to take a second look at:
- I think your hats and other misc percs could have been a bit better sounding at the drum break; It was a shame to hear the low quality stuff bogging down the very beautiful mix of bass/ sidechaining/ and kick drum.

Overall; this is really cool, but still needs a few things
but that's just my opinion :p

Adjeye responds:

Hey thanks man, I am working at finding orchestral drum samples right now, but yeah, they are hard to find :/

Pretty nice for a newbie

My biggest issue with this song is the quality, Those angelic choir samples sound really fake without any reverb or effects over them. The string/ flute samples also sound pretty plain in this, but I do like the piano that you used here.

The composition itself is brilliant, and if you plugged in some real quality instruments to this; I'm sure the finished product would be amazing.

Overall, not bad at all for a new composer at all

CheckeredZebra responds:

Thank you for reviewing =)! Always appreciated.

The vocal slicing was pretty well done :p

But the rest of this song was really basic x.x

The instruments/ drums that you used for this song... sound realllly generic, and the melodies are really repetitive. This song seems to completely lack any sort of mixing/ mastering that could have been done.

I was also really disappointed by the lack of Automation Clip use, the transitions in this just move from one to another very abruptly.

Things to do to fix it:
- Mix this thing for godsake
- Watch your volume levels
- Be more creative with the organization of your vocal slices; this shit is way overdone and way too crowded

Overall good idea, but could have been executed a bit better

Everything is taken into consideration for my next tracks.
Thank you for your review! :-D

Really Beautiful

This composition is really amazing man! :D

I love how pure, clean, and beautiful all of your samples sound O:. The melodies in this sound really professional, and great up until about 1:22... I really started to hear a lack of quality in the strings and horn instruments, but then right before the end of the song... piano comes back in, and sounds great.

Overall I really like this song, and love the quality in certain areas... I would however have liked to hear a cleaner transition into the upbeat part of the melody, and some better samples to complement the beginning/ end of this song.

ER... Here's why...

I Think that Mao's flows are pretty smart, but the execution could really use work; ER only seemed to do better rhythmically, but Rhythm always triumphs over words in competitions like this... or at least it would seem...

Things to take a second look at:
- I think you've both got some real talent, but both y'all need some REAL microphones n' shit lol
- The beat could have been a bit more loud; your vocals are wayy to loud over the rest of the beat.

Overall, okay... but not exactly the type of hip-hop I would drop at a party. x_x
