Interesting take on the original.

I liked the overall ambiance of this track, and the breakbeats were definitely very chill. The samples you chose were very nice, and airy. The vocals stayed in sync with everything very well, and the string samples in the background were also a nice touch.

Things I would focus on more:
- The vocals seemed to be bogged down by the surrounding instruments in some spots
- That main snare hit seemed to bug me a tad
- The sample feedback gets a little out of hand @ 3:10 and rings out pretty loudly for the next 20 seconds; I get what you were going for and I like it... but eq that feedback down a tad, and try to make it a bit more of a background noise
- The bells at the end of the song are pretty generic sounding (layer, layer, layer)

Overall though, good effort.

Thanks for the constructive criticism. Glad you took the time to check it out!

Creative!

The intro sounded very progressive, and I really enjoyed how unique it was! The scattered voices and soft synths really took me away, well done. :D Honestly this reminded me of something by The Mars Volta up until the drums came in.

I was really impressed by the build/ break around 1:17 though, bringing the voices back into dominance before the break was absolutely superb! The following "airy" break was also something to be noted as well, really great stuff.

The leads really topped this piece off; I was really reminded of old school video games around 2:30-3:00 though, really amazing ambiance.

Overall, there's not too much I would change about this peice; maybe just some changes to the drums...

Great work my friend!

Hey DJ Sonik,

I'm glad you like the different elements you like :) and I agree that the drums are a bit repetitive and could use some help.

thanks for the review

Dark sounding :o

The intro was different, but I really enjoyed the rather "Dark-sounding" samples that you used for this piece. The melodies in this also complemented the overall ambiance of the track very well.

This song reminded me a lot of the music from the "Haunted Mansion" level in Super Mario 64; The subtle creepy undertones, dark samples, and distant sounding drums made for a really great (creepy sounding) song!

Overall; great effort!

Thankyou. I'm always in it for a mixing sanity along with insanity.

Woah! Very nice!

Very professional sounding, and right from the get go I was very impressed by the instrumentation/ composition. These instruments are very distinct, and absolutely perfect for what I imagine you were going for. The leads, percussion, and other samples were just amazing.

This song has a nice, epic, Spanish feel to it, and I can't think of much that I would change about it.

Overall, this is really great and professional sounding as well!

Hey there,

Thanks for the review. I always try to get the feel I want across as effectively as possible.

As a side note, the instruments are EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Gold.

Ah good old FL7

This is a pretty cool tune, and it really takes me back listening to this; I remember using a lot of these samples a few years back xD.

This song is pretty sweet, and I can dig the groove you created here. I really enjoyed the automation that you wrote out for most of this, and I liked a lot of the leads you chose as well!

Things I would have done differently:
- I hear a lot of preset samples in this song :(
- The mastering could have been much better
- This isn't really trance... if anything experimental house...
- The drums need so much more distinction (side-chaining would help here)

Besides that though; This is a great wip!

I really appreciate the review! I'm really glad you like some of the things that I did with the samples. I have to admit that I was suuuch a novice to music in general when I made this, and looking back I'm feeling like it would have been a really good idea to tweak some of the samples from that VST I used, the name of which I can't even remember now, to make them sound more unique.

I didn't even know WHAT side-chaining was back then, haha.

Also I honestly didn't know what to classify this as, but "experimental" seems perfect now.

If I can somehow revive the hard drive this thing is sleeping on, I'll definitely put all those suggestions into practice. In fact, I'm going to work on reviving that old thing just to get another crack at this. Once again, I really appreciate the review, especially the useful input you've provided me with, and I hope you can review more currently relevant stuff I submit to the club in the future!
Cheers!

Chill, and really different! but not trance...

For starters, I really loved the instrumentation in this song; The choice of instruments was very different, and really dug all of your fade ins and outs.
The melodies were all very driving, unique, and chill as fuu. I feel like there's a lot of room for work to be done in though!

Although this track is great, I suggest you:
- Beef up your drum kit a tad
- Change that guitar lead thingy towards 1:50
- Some of your leads sound really bland

Besides all that; this is actually a really great track!

thanks for the review
i prefer to keep the drums in the back more idk it's just kinda preferance thing guitar thingy is indeed a synth that was a part in the song that i kinda copped out and used a melody from another song cuss the creative juice was low but i see what ya mean change it to somthin to help the build

Chill Orchestral?

The subtle instrumentation, and chill beats really made this song.
I really loved all of the orchestral samples, percussion, and oh man was that mastering superb :).
Out of everything here I think I loved the nylon string guitar part the most, very chill, and masterfully put together!

This song is pretty intense and I don't know if there is anything that I would change about it to be honest with you. This is really top notch work, and I look forward to hearing more from you in the future :D.

Thank you for your reviewing, XsakuX!

It's good to know that I have done a fine job of doing a symphonic remix of HFXs song. TBH, the classical guitar part is one of my personal favs of the whole song too! I play some classical guitar IRL, and perhaps would've loved to add even more at the end, if I had enough time (was literally on my mind in the last few hours I had to make the song). I kind of thought of giving the ending a quiet ,somewhat lively, "credits roll" feel, and I guess that I've delivered!

I guess I also do have a knack for bringing chill and relaxation to a great number of my works; it's perhaps a subtle mission in me to give some therapeutic value to my works, incidental or no. :-D

Again, thank you very much for answering my review request, XsakuX!

Stay away from presets! D:

I really enjoyed the general composition of this piece, but it's not very hard to tell that you're new to FL studio. x.x
This isn't a bad thing, but if I may I would like to give you some pointers...

Right off the bat with this song I noticed the preset sytrus sample. Your best bet is to never ever ever use a preset sample, because chances are someone else has used that sample as well. Try layering samples on top of each other to get a really unique lead, and then use effects to alter them throughout your song...
Also, Try to change your melodies up a tad more; this gets a tad repetitive x.x

Good effort bro, just keep working at it!

Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely try layering some things.

relaxing melodies

I really enjoyed the overall "epic-ness" of this piece; the organs were a really nice addition! I was really impressed by the composition of this track, and the variety of samples used here was also quite a treat!

I could easily imagine this being used for the credits/ menu music in an epic flash submission on NG :)

A couple things I would suggest:
- Although the composition is great, I felt that this piece lacks in sample quality; Better piano, strings, and choir samples could have made a world of difference here.
- The low end of this piece seems to be a bit dry; moar cello?

Overall; great tune!

Troisnyx responds:

Yes, I'll admit, better piano is needed. What I used was the Steinway soundfont designed for Mario Paint Composer, rather than Logic or FL Studio. Spot on, mate. ^_^ I'm not sure about the cello bit, though... I don't know if I'm taking away from the semi-liturgical feel of the piece, if I were to throw in one.

I guess it'll take a remastering for me to find out.

Thanks so much for the review, and I'm glad you enjoyed the piece!

Epic battle theme!

Wow! This really sets the stage for an angelic battle very well!

Right from the get-go I can envision a clash in the heavens between two driving forces. The ultimate good, and ultimate evil fighting the final battle between worlds; as the gods light up the night sky, people of earth watch in terror as the day of judgment begins...

Everything in this song songs very well mixed and mastered, I enjoyed the drum track a lot, and the epic orchestral work really seemed to breathe some life into this track.

Things I would have done differently;
- Those guitars w/ distortion seemed like they could have used a little more "umph" (I would have liked to hear more rhythm guitar during those power chord sections)
- The drums also could have used a bit more power as well

Overall; pretty epic submission!
